Who Is A Real Estate Salesperson and How is a Salesperson Different from a Broker
If you are new to this industry without prior related experience, this is your first course of study. This course will prepare you for the New York Department of State Real Estate Salesperson's Exam required to obtain your license.
To get your Real Estate Broker's license, you must work full time as a Real Estate Salesperson for a minimum of two years before you can obtain your broker's license. This work is done while associated with and supervised by a licensed RE broker who is your sponsor.

Requirements for Salesperson Licensure
- Minimum age of 18
- Demonstrate fair knowledge of the English language
- Complete a NY DOS approved 75 hour qualifying course such as given by Real Estate Academy
- Pass the Real Estate Academy qualifying course exam
- Pass the NY DOS licensing exam
- Obtain broker sponsorship
- Be in one of four citizenship categories:
- Citizenship status
- Permanent residency
- Have a work authorization card obtained from the Immigration and Naturalization Service
- Have a work permit obtained from your sponsoring employer
